About
Elim Sly
Film director born in Northern Haida Gwaii, British Columbia
Elim Sly is a film director and photographer from northern Haida Gwaii, an archipelago in Canada’s North Pacific. Temperate, though volatile and much removed from mainland Canada, Elim often states it is a place of great beauty and inspiration. In his early career, Elim worked largely with indigenous governing bodies and band councils in British Columbia. This frequently touched on issues of environmental conservation and education in remote locations and for minority communities. Since shifting to more commercial work and under the moniker Rising Tide, Elim has directed projects in Mexico and West and Eastern Europe. Shifting once more, Elim now works as a writer for the Council of the Haida Nation.
